Academic and Arts Standards
The Academic and Arts Standards
The Arts Link Model was designed to test the efficacy of the arts, as integrated with core academic subjects, to engage students more actively in the learning process and thereby to potentially improve student learning outcomes. As an arts integration model, Arts Link academic content reflects the PA Academic Standards grounded in the national Common Core Standards. These standards serve as the pedagogical foundation and construct for creating arts integration curricula, and both the classroom teachers and teaching artists are required to create arts integration lesson content that maintains the integrity and rigor of both disciplines. Arts Link artists and classroom teachers worked with the PA Academic Standards for mathematics, English language arts and the arts and humanities as the program was delivered and tested in the Hazleton Area School District of Pennsylvania. All Arts Link Lessons are integrated with mathematics and ELA grade level targets.
